After the tragic loss of their unborn child Kate (Vera Farmiga) and John (Peter Sarsgaard) are left devastated with there marriage on the rocks and there lives falling apart. Struggling to gain some normality, the couple decides to adopt a child at a local orphanage. Big mistake, as the couple soon find themselves in the middle of a gruesome and terrifying sequence of events.
