In a strange alternate reality where lying and even the idea of a lying does not exist with no thought for the consequences. A down and out loser Mark Bellison (Ricky Gervais) decides the best way to succeed is to tell a lie or two and so begins his rise to fame and fortune but the problem is one lie leads to another and another and soon everything is totally out of control leading to slight complications when he falls in love with Anna McDoogles (Jennifer Garner).
